NSA = NSC: Tivo ALL Comunications of Everyone, Everywhere

. . . NSC is not the same as NSA. Another way to read between the lines . . ."National security program": Something that is outside FISA; and outside what the FISA current covers. . .although it was intended to cover all things.
Listen closely to the pauses, spacing, and hemming and hawing. Mueller is dancing around something that -- it appears -- President and AG have said falls "outside" the FISA-coverage: This might be a Canadian-Australian-NZ-UK data transfer program: Whereby non-US interception methods are used, but the data is forwarded to the NSA through non-direct US means...

SEPT 28, 2006: THE END OF OUR REPUBLIC, CHINA STYLE

After several months without posts due to the redundancy of Bush's continued shredding of the Constitution with NOBODY to stand up against it, I cannot think of anything else to do except to pen my sorrow for the end of the Repuplic that I have grown up in. With the passing of Bush's "anti terror bill" in the the House of Representatives and now the Senate on September 28th, 2006, we have become a nation who's laws are more and more like China's on the day student's demanded democracy in Tiananmen square. Remember_tiananmen_square My question, plain and simple, is that if an American Citizen can be detained indefinitely(that means forever or until they are dead) because of witness' testimony(possibly coerced lies through torture and not allowed to be detailed in court because of "national security concerns") and citizens are not allowed to appeal their charges because they are considered "enemy combatants," WHAT DOES OUR CONSTITUTION NOW STAND FOR? Just asking. Just crying...until they come for me and there is nobody left to protest.

Whistleass' Most Important Story of 2005

the downing street memo: smoking gun (from posted 5.17.05)

" It seemed clear that Bush had made up his mind to take military action, even if the timing was not yet decided. But the case was thin. Saddam was not threatening his neighbours, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran. We should work up a plan for an ultimatum to Saddam to allow back in the UN weapons inspectors. This would also help with the legal justification for the use of force. "

Daschle denied King Bush on domestic spying

Daschle's article reveals an important new episode in the resolution's legislative history.

As drafted, and as finally passed, the resolution authorized the president "to use all necessary and appropriate force against those nations, organizations or persons" who "planned, authorized, committed or aided" the Sept. 11 attacks.

"Literally minutes before the Senate cast its vote, the administration sought to add the words 'in the United States and' after 'appropriate force' in the agreed-upon text," Daschle wrote. "This last-minute change would have given the president broad authority to exercise expansive powers not just overseas -- where we all understood he wanted authority to act -- but right here in the United States, potentially against American citizens. I could see no justification for Congress to accede to this extraordinary request for additional authority. I refused."

Daschle wrote that Congress also rejected draft language from the White House that would have authorized the use of force to "deter and pre-empt any future acts of terrorism or aggression against the United States," not only against those responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks.

Republican legislators involved in the negotiations could not be reached for comment last night. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/22/AR2005122202119.html

What's Wrong with Journalists/Mass Media today?

The more we non-journalists see about how the cozy little game of flirtation that reporters play with their sources and vice-versa, each needing what the other has to offer--the more unseemly and untrustworthy the whole process becomes. This is so far from the old school image of the hard bitten reporter relentlessly wearing out shoe leather, and doggedly pursuing and harassing sources to get tidbits of information out of people that did not want to talk--that I am now realizing that everything I know is wrong--at least if I read it in a newspaper, magazine, or saw it on television. It is all a massively co-ordinated effort to define a reality that is, in fact, pure fiction, and conceals a ruthless political agenda. Feh to the whole business. I am disgusted. c4logic | 12.11.05 - 2:26 pm | #

colin powell's right hand man says cheney may be "guilty of war crimes"

" Asked whether the vice-president was guilty of a war crime, Mr Wilkerson replied: "Well, that's an interesting question - it was certainly a domestic crime to advocate terror and I would suspect that it is ... an international crime as well." In the context of other remarks it appeared he was using the word "terror" to apply to the systematic abuse of prisoners."

Fact: Minnesota Dems Said "Fuck Bush" On Joint Resolution 114

http://www.duluthsuperior.com/mld/duluthtribune/2005/11/21/news/opinion/13222910.htm

Minnesota Democrats are not 'rewriting history'

Historical fact: Minnesota Democrats voted "no" on the Iraq war.

As President Bush and his administration accuse Democrats of "rewriting history" about initial support for the war, the fact remains that 21 Democratic senators and 126 Democrats in the House of Representatives voted against Joint Resolution 114 that entrusted the president with the ultimate final decision of going to war, which he pledged would only happen as a last resort.

Both Minnesota senators, Democrats Paul Wellstone and Mark Dayton, voted no to the resolution, in effect challenging the rationale of going to war before it ever started.

Also, of the five Minnesota Democrats in the House of Representatives at the time of the vote, the majority (three of them) voted no (Jim Oberstar, Martin Sabo and Nancy McCollum) and two voted yes (Bill Luther and Collin Peterson).

All three Minnesota Republicans in the House voted yes (Gil Gutknecht, Jim Ramstad and Mark Kennedy). (John Kline defeated Luther for his seat in 2002.)

To be blunt: Democrats are not rewriting history, Bush and his administration are just lying... again.

Who Voted For the IRAQ WAR?!!

21 Senate Dems and 126 Dems in the House of Reps VOTED AGAINST House Joint Resolution 114 as taken on October 11, 2002

The vote on House Joint Resolution 114 as taken on October 11, 2002. It passed the Senate by a vote of 77 to 23. The 21 Democrats, one Republican and one Independent senator who courageously voted their consciences against it were:

Daniel Akaka (D-HI)
Jeff Bingaman (D-NM)
Barbara Boxer (D-CA)
Robert Byrd (D-WV)
Lincoln Chafee (R-RI)
Kent Conrad (D-ND)
Jon Corzine (D-NJ)
Mark Dayton (D-MN)
Dick Durbin (D-IL)
Russ Feingold (D-WI)
Bob Graham (D-FL)
Daniel Inouye (D-HI)
Jim Jeffords (I-VT)
Ted Kennedy (D-MA)
Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
Carl Levin (D-MI)
Barbara Mikulski (D-MD)
Patty Murray (D-WA)
Jack Reed (D-RI)
Paul Sarbanes (D-MD)
Debbie Stabenow (D-MI)
the late Paul Wellstone (D-MN)
Ron Wyden (D-OR)

The House of Representatives passed the Resolution by a vote of 296 to 133. In the House, six Republicans (Ron Paul of Texas; Connie Morella of Maryland; Jim Leach of Iowa; Amo Houghton of New York; John Hostettler of Indiana; and John Duncan of Tennessee) joined 126 Democrats in voting nay.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich, (D-OH), said the 133 votes against the measure were "a very strong message" to the administration.

"All across this land Americans are insisting on a peaceful resolution of matters in Iraq," Kucinich said then. "All across this land, Americans are looking towards the United States to be a nation among nations, working through the United Nations to help resolve this crisis."

Let's all write, call or email these discerning American patriots, and thank them again for their votes. And let's remember their wisdom come Election Day 2006. http://usliberals.about.com/b/a/2005_11_14.htm

bush losing it

"President George W. Bush’s increasingly erratic behavior and wide mood swings has the halls of the West Wing buzzing lately as aides privately express growing concern over their leader’s state of mind.

In meetings with top aides and administration officials, the President goes from quoting the Bible in one breath to obscene tantrums against the media, Democrats and others that he classifies as “enemies of the state.”

Worried White House aides paint a portrait of a man on the edge, increasingly wary of those who disagree with him and paranoid of a public that no longer trusts his policies in Iraq or at home."

Treasongate bigger than Watergate

URBANA, ILLINOIS--To weigh the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame against historical standards, consider that no leader of the Soviet Union--including that master of ruthlessness, Josef Stalin--ever arranged for the name of a KGB operative to appear in a newspaper. Adolf Hitler had countless millions murdered, yet getting at a political enemy by endangering agents of the Sicherheitsdienst, the Nazi intelligence service, didn't cross his mind. In this respect, not even the worst tyrants have stooped to the level of George W. Bush.

"Before Fitzgerald is done, we'll see the warlords of Washington hauled before   a court of the people. We'll hear the whole sordid story of how a   band of exiles, at   least two   foreign intelligence agencies, and a   cabal of neoconservatives   inside the Pentagon   and the vice president's   office bamboozled Congress and the American people into going to war. As   the indictments come down, so will the elaborate narrative so carefully constructed   by the War Party in the run-up to war be exposed as a tissue of fabrication,   forgery, and fraud."

!!!The Real Judith Miller: CIA or Israeli Intel?

It's been clear for some time who Judith Miller's real employer is. She is NOC CIA. Private citizens, even reporters, do not get attributable access to top-secret, codeword-classified material. Witnessing an actual interrogation brings up a number of security issues: the name and physical description of the subject, unfettered access to the rawest version of the intelligence gained, the codename of the subject, the classified codewords of the project/file, the physical description and worknames of the interrogators, the interrogation methods used, the location of the interrogation facility - and these are just a few. This level of access is usually only available to a case officer - even material classified top secret and higher contains redactions to protect the source of the intelligence. That she regularly gains this level of access makes it clear who her real employer is. Judy Miller is CIA.
http://www.pnionline.com/dnblog/attytood/archives/002423.html

Just like Judy "forgot" to mention her connection to dead British scientist Dr David Kelly
http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/article.asp?ID=941
who sent Miller an email just before he supposedly walked off to kill himself: "Moreover, the email gave no indication that he was either depressed or contemplating suicide. He wrote that he was waiting "until the end of the week" before judging how his appearance before the House of Commons select committee had gone.
The email was sent to American author Judy Miller shortly before he left home for the last time. "
Miller had worked with Kelly previously on a book (!!!) but she mentions neither that nor the email in the article she wrote about his death.
The woman in a willing collaborator with the Bush White House, particularly Doug Feith's group. Her speaking bureau also handles these same worthless jerks.
"Journalist?" Yeah, and my cat can fart show tunes.

criminal conservatives

The only alternative explanation is that the national Republican Party and the branches of government it controls are operating an open kleptocratic conspiracy reminiscent of the Gilded Age. And only shrill people -- those who aren't anti-war, just on the other side -- could believe that explanation.

Repost from Jan 2004!!!! Gold prices at Highest Rate since before George Bush Sr. left office after he had just sold $10 Billion in U.S. GOLD to foreigners with Saudi connections for only $10,000 (ed: Iran Contra Scandal may still not be over now in 2004)

Bush the Elder’s Scheme to Sell Pardons and Get a Payoff – Where is the Outrage Over a 10 Billion Dollar Taxpayer Ripoff? By Jock Gill for Democrats.com  Bill Clinton wasn’t being either bold or creative in his use of the presidential pardon power. Compared to George Bush Senior’s incredible pardon fiasco, Clinton’s pardon scandal is boring. In his last days as President, Bush Sr. sold U.S. government asset worth $10 billion to a friend for a mere $10 thousand dollars, pardoned his business colleagues, and then went on the company’s payroll for seven years. At the very end of his presidency Papa Bush gave a sweetheart deal to the Canadian company Barrick Goldstrike. They got the rights to US land worth $10 billion in return for a nominal payment to the treasury of $10,000. But that does not seem to be all they got, or all they paid for either. The money behind Barrick is from Saudi arms dealer and Bush family friend Adnan Khashoggi, who was identified as conduit in the Iran-Contra conspiracy. In 1986 he was arrested and charged with fraud but failed to be convicted. In one of his last acts as president Bush pardoned Khashoggi's alleged co-conspirators, who were key members of Bush's own cabinet. As a result, no case could be made against Khashoggi – or against Bush himself. To express its gratitude for these favors Barrick Goldstrike hired Papa right after he left office and donated $148,000 to the Republican Party, at least that is the amount that can be traced. As reported by Gregory Palast this is hugely more consequential for justice than anything presidential pardon before or since, so slowly once again let’s connect the dots: 1] Iran Contra blows up – Special Prosecutor Lawrence Walsh makes good progress at revealing the players and their deeds. 2] Saudi arms dealer Adnan Khashoggi’s role at the center of it all is at risk of being exposed. 3] Bush "sells" $10B in gold rights for $10K to foreigners! -- why would a president accept such a bad deal for his country? This should be dramatic red flag! This incredible amount makes the sellout of the U.S. by some of our spies look like chump change. 4] Bush pardons key players as part of a cover up -- protecting Adnan Khashoggi and others. The obvious question is what was the quid pro quo? 5] Adnan Khashoggi arranges for his puppet, Peter Munk, founder of Barrick Goldstrike, to repay the favor with a lucrative "job" for George Bush. So Khashoggi gets his cover up, Barrick gets its gold mine, Bush gets a high paying no show job, the Republican Party gets a huge contribution from a foreign company and we the taxpayers and law abiding citizens get the shaft. How much of this "deal" was all pre-arranged, scripted and "in the bag" before the selling of the gold rights and the pardons? This also helps explain why the current Bush in the White House wants the stink about Clinton’s pardons to go away! It is simply amazing the press has given Bush Inc. a free ride on this! He must be in terror that somebody will connect the dots and his father's culpability in Iran Contra scandal will leak out. How much longer will these ghosts in the Bush closet remain silently out of sight?

Republicans do a head-fake(all the terror they spewed about all week) and then Pass the Rest of American Democracy to the Oil Industry...TOUCHDOWN!!!

Emotions erupted on the floor of the House of Representatives this afternoon as the right-wing-led Congress held open yet another vote to twist arms and pass a bill that would line the pockets of energy company executives. The House leadership held the five-minute vote open for almost 50 minutes until they could convince three lawmakers — Reps. Wayne Gilcrest (R-MD), C.W. Bill Young (R-FL) and Jim Gerlach (R-PA) — to change their minds. The bill passed 212-210. As the vote concluded, opponents of the bill chanted in unity: “Shame, Shame, Shame!” http://thinkprogress.org/2005/10/07/house-block-vote/

I just talked to a source who told me that Karl Rove has been missing from a number of recent White House presidential events - events that he has ALWAYS attended in the past.
